My Visit To An Airbnb

Recently, we we paid a  awesome overnight trip to an Airbnb in Somerset, one of the most beautiful parts of southwest UK. We only stayed for one night and wanted to keep the cost under £100 per night. After some searching, we found a lovely one-bedroom barn conversion that was attached to the main house and a chiropractor’s office. It was situated in the stunning location of Pylle, Somerset, which was just a short distance from the town of Glastonbury.

Airbnb review

Interior design has always been a passion of mine, so whenever I’m browsing through potential Airbnb stays, I tend to choose places that have a well-thought-out aesthetic. Unfortunately, we had to pass on a few options in the area because they didn’t quite fit our style.
But let me get to the good stuff – when we arrived at our chosen Airbnb, our host was extremely helpful throughout the check-in process and even checked in on us during our stay to make sure we were comfortable. While this isn’t a review of the entire experience, we were certainly grateful for the attention to detail our host provided.
Overall, I think hosts can really maximize their bookings and impress their guests by investing in great decor and design. It’s all about creating a “wow” experience that guests will remember!

The barn conversion was seriously cozy, perfect for a quick getaway. While there weren’t any kitchen facilities, they did provide a coffee machine and kettle with some delicious Border biscuits – such a treat!

The bedroom overlooked a gorgeous field with tons of greenery and trees. It was decorated tastefully with white walls, a green mottled carpet, and an iron cast bed frame. They had a chest of drawers and a small arm chair.

Although it was a tad chilly when we arrived, it warmed up in no time and overall, it was a lovely spot to relax.

The bathroom had plain cream walls with shower cubicle, sink, toilet and again the green mottled carpet which in my books is a no, no for hygiene purposes.

It could definitely use a little sprucing up to make it more visually appealing. It was a lot more dated and was in need of a new bolder creative refresh.

I want to show hosts how they can better design their rental space even on a small budget, there are some inspiring ways to give rooms lots more spark.

What Can You Do To This Space?

With out spending a huge amount there are a lot you could do to make this bathroom more inspiring and bring it up to date.

  1. Replace the carpet:  Replacing the carpet does not have to be a hard or expensive job, it could be replaced with a lino floor tile which can be fitted yourself.  If you fit a tile that is vibrant and can lift the room to give instant interest.
  2. Create an interesting wall:  Use deep colours to add depth and character to the walls, this could be achieved by bold wallpaper, stenciling, tiles or even wall paneling made from MDF.
  3.  Update your accessories:  Updated the accessories can bring that added touch for minimal amount, it may take a bit of DIY but it will be worth it in the long run.
  4. Add greenery:  Adding plants  is a great feature for the bathroom.  Artificial plants or live plants if you have time to maintain them.

Updating your living space doesn’t have to be a daunting or expensive task. In fact, with a little bit of creative inspiration, even the most functional and uninspiring spaces can be transformed into a beautiful haven of comfort and style.

Take, for example, this bathroom – while it was certainly functional, it was sorely lacking in terms of visual appeal. However, by injecting some imagination and personality into its design, you could easily turn it into a truly stunning room that exudes character and charm.

Whether you opt for a bold and vibrant color scheme, incorporate eye-catching accessories, or experiment with texture and pattern, there are countless ways to breathe new life into your living space and ensure that it remains a warm and inviting sanctuary for years to come.
